Terms of Use

1. Acceptance
These Terms govern your use of the Lettrait Android app (gg.var.lettrait, “the App”), provided by vargg (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. What the App does
Lettrait turns a photo you choose into a typographic artwork: every cell of the image is filled with a real letter matched to its tone, and the phrase you type is engraved into the grid. Creating, refining, and archiving artworks is free, and so is the share-sized JPG. Print- and edit-ready files (300 DPI PNG, vector PDF and SVG, CMYK separations) are unlocked by a purchase.
3. License to use the App
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on devices you own or control, in line with these Terms and Google Play’s terms.
4. Your content and responsibilities
Lettrait processes photos and text you choose, on your device. You are responsible for the images you import and the artworks you create and share. You must hold the rights you need for any image you use — copyright, and where a person is depicted, their portrait/publicity rights. Do not use the App to create or share content that is unlawful, infringing, harassing, or that otherwise violates the rights of others. We do not review, access, or store your images: they never leave your device.
5. Rights in what you make
- You own your artworks. Subject to your rights in the source image under section 4, the artworks you create are yours. We claim no ownership of them.
- Free exports (the share JPG) may be used freely for personal, non-commercial purposes and shared on social media.
- Paid exports (files exported with One or Pro) carry a commercial-use license. You may print, exhibit, and sell physical goods made from them (acrylic, canvas, posters and the like), deliver them as client commission work, and use them in merchandise.
- Two things are not permitted: reselling exported files or generated results as material for a competing service or an automated pipeline, and extracting or redistributing the App itself (its software or its bundled font files).
- The bundled typeface (the Pretendard family) is used under the SIL Open Font License; using it in your exports — including outlined and embedded glyphs — is within what the OFL permits. The full license text is available in the App under “Open-source licenses”.
6. Purchases & billing
The App is free to create with. Two optional purchases unlock print- and edit-ready exports:
- Lettrait One — a one-off purchase that unlocks every export format for one artwork, including the letter packs that artwork uses. For 7 days from purchase you can keep refining and re-exporting that same artwork; files you have already exported are yours to keep after that.
- Lettrait Pro — an auto-renewing subscription that unlocks every export format for every artwork, plus the full letter palette (including language packs) and multiple phrases, for as long as it is active.
- Price: the price shown in the App at purchase (standing price One KRW 7,900 · Pro KRW 9,900 / month · KRW 49,000 / year in Korea; One USD 7.99 · Pro USD 9.99 / month · USD 39.99 / year in the United States). Google Play shows the authoritative localized price, currency, tax treatment, and any promotion at the moment of purchase, and that price is the one that applies.
- Payment & renewal: billed through your Google Play account. Pro renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. One is a one-time purchase and does not renew.
- Cancellation: manage or cancel Pro anytime in Google Play → Subscriptions. Canceling stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Refunds: handled by Google Play under its policies and your local consumer-protection rights. We are not the payment processor and do not separately charge you. Access tied to a refunded purchase may be withdrawn.
7. Acceptable use
Don’t reverse engineer, tamper with, or attempt to bypass the App’s licensing or its export gating; don’t use the App to break the law or infringe others’ rights.
8. Our intellectual property
The App, its name, design, and bundled assets are owned by us or our licensors, except for third-party components used under their own licenses (listed in the App under “Open-source licenses”). These Terms grant you no rights in our trademarks.
9. Disclaimer
The App is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. Rendering is automated and its results may be imperfect. Printed output depends on the printer, ink, and paper used, and colors on paper will differ from colors on screen — we do not warrant a print shop’s result. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or content, arising from your use of the App, and our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid us through the App in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your mandatory consumer rights.
11. Changes
We may update the App and these Terms over time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Effective” date and, where appropriate, an in-app or store notice. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
